Deputy Commissioner Usman Tahir Japah visited Fayyaz Park on Wednesday to review preparations for the Mango Festival, scheduled for July 11-12, in line with Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision. Officers of concerned departments accompanied the deputy commissioner during the visit, a spokesman for the district administration said.
Review of Arrangements
The deputy commissioner reviewed decoration, cleanliness, lighting, security, parking, entry and exit points, stages, stalls and facilities being provided for citizens at the venue. He directed that all arrangements be completed on time and to a high standard to ensure a pleasant environment for visitors and guests attending the festival.
Promoting Local Identity
Usman Tahir Japah said the Mango Festival would play an important role in promoting the district’s agricultural identity, particularly its high-quality mangoes, besides local culture, handicrafts and tourism. He said the festival would feature exhibitions of the best mango varieties, cultural activities, family entertainment, food stalls and other engaging programmes.
Security and Logistics
The deputy commissioner directed the officers concerned to ensure all necessary measures for cleanliness, security, traffic management, medical facilities, uninterrupted power supply and citizen guidance, so that the festival is held successfully in an organised and memorable manner. Two held with Rs613m worth fake pesticides.
