A proclaimed and record-holding drug trafficker was killed in an alleged police encounter in Jaranwala tehsil, Faisalabad, on Friday. Police recovered more than 100 kilograms of hashish and weapons from his vehicle. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of City Jaranwala police station during an operation directed by City Police Officer (CPO) Faisalabad Tanveer Hussain, according to police spokesman Tariq Jutt.
Details of the Encounter
SHO City Jaranwala police station Sub Inspector (SI) Muzaffar Khokhar, accompanied by ASI Ghulam Abbas and other personnel, had established a checkpoint near Punjab Hospital on Lahore Road to intercept suspected criminals. The police signaled a suspicious car to stop, but its occupants allegedly opened fire and fled. The police team chased and intercepted the vehicle near 240 Mor after surrounding the suspects. The outlaws were directed to surrender but again opened fire. During the exchange, one accused was injured and taken into custody, while accomplices escaped. The injured accused was shifted to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
Identity and Criminal Record
The deceased was identified as Zubair alias Zubairi Cousin, a resident of Islampura Jaranwala. He was a record-holding narcotics dealer wanted by police in more than a dozen criminal cases. Police recovered over 100 kg of hashish and weapons from his vehicle.
Separate Kidnapping Arrests
On the same day, police arrested four individuals involved in allegedly kidnapping a girl. The accused were identified as Allah Rakha, Usman, Husnain, and Asif. According to police sources, they kidnapped a girl named Aqsa along with her gold ornaments and cash. Madina Town police traced the accused through scientific methods and arrested them. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
