FAISALABAD: The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has provided two anti-smog guns to Faisalabad as part of efforts to improve air quality and mitigate the harmful effects of smog ahead of the upcoming winter season.
Inauguration Ceremony
EPA Director General Imran Hamid Sheikh formally inaugurated the anti-smog guns at the DC Office Complex. The ceremony was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Anwar Ali, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Finance and Planning) Mudassar Mumtaz, Deputy Director EPA Muhammad Usman Azhar, Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Farooq Yousaf Sheikh, All Pakistan Textile Processing Mills Association (APTPMA) Chairman Rao Akram, Waheed Khaliq Ramay, and representatives of the industrial and business community.
Memorandum of Understanding Signed
On the occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between The University of Faisalabad and the Environmental Protection Agency to promote research on smog prevention and control. Participants were also briefed on preventive and protective measures to combat air pollution.
DG EPA's Remarks
Speaking to the media, DG EPA Imran Hamid Sheikh said the anti-smog guns had been deployed in Faisalabad following their successful use in Lahore last year. He explained that the machines spray fine water mist at pollution hotspots to suppress dust, dirt, and airborne particles, helping reduce the intensity of smog. He reiterated the Punjab government's commitment to ensuring a clean and healthy environment, adding that all available resources were being utilised and modern technology was being employed alongside other preventive measures.
