A spell of dry and intense heat has gripped Lahore and several parts of Punjab, signalling the onset of another hot weather phase across the province. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the temperature in Lahore was recorded at around 32 degrees Celsius on Saturday morning. The city witnessed a minimum temperature of 26°C, while the mercury is expected to rise to a maximum of 41°C during the day.
Heat Intensification Expected
Meteorologists have warned that the heat is likely to intensify in the coming days, with night-time temperatures also expected to remain unusually high. Minimum temperatures may increase to around 28°C, adding to humidity levels and worsening the overall heat index.
Temperature Forecast
The Met Office said temperatures across the provincial capital and adjoining areas are expected to rise gradually over the next one to two days, with the mercury likely to reach 42°C by Sunday. Authorities have advised citizens to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight, stay adequately hydrated and take precautionary measures to protect themselves from possible heatwave conditions.
