Police in Gujrat arrested a kite seller and recovered 150 kites along with 15 metallic and chemical-coated kite strings during a targeted crackdown in Kunjah. The operation was led by In-charge Khojianwali Police Post ASI Jabbar Ahmed, who conducted a raid based on intelligence and apprehended the suspect, identified as Shan Ali.

According to a police spokesperson, ASI Jabbar Ahmed and his team raided a location in Kunjah, where they found Shan Ali in possession of the illegal items. Police seized 150 kites and 15 strings coated with metal and chemicals, which are banned due to their lethal nature. The accused was taken into custody, and a case has been registered against him.
Official Statement on Kite Flying Dangers
District Police Officer (DPO) Akhtar Farooq condemned kite flying as a dangerous practice that has claimed many precious lives in the past. He warned that strict action would continue against those involved in the illegal business of selling kites and dangerous strings. “Kite flying with metallic and chemical-coated strings is a menace that endangers lives. We will not tolerate any such activity,” Farooq stated.
Legal Proceedings and Ongoing Investigation
A formal case has been registered against Shan Ali under relevant laws, and further investigation is underway. Police are also probing possible links to larger networks involved in the supply of banned kite strings.
