Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Tuesday declared that educated women represent the bright future of Pakistan, describing them as a valuable national asset and a guarantee of a strong and prosperous society. He made these remarks while addressing the prize distribution ceremony of the annual “Sada-e-Aqeedat Muharram-ul-Haram Students’ Naat Competition 2026,” organized by Radio Tehzeeb at the Governor House in Peshawar.
Education and Character Building Essential for National Development
Kundi emphasized that education, training, and character-building of the younger generation are essential for national development. He stressed that only enlightened and educated societies can achieve progress and prosperity, and called for promoting tolerance, harmony, and brotherhood by rejecting hatred, prejudice, and divisive attitudes. The ceremony was attended by Radio Tehzeeb CEO Saif-ul-Islam Afridi, students, and other guests.
Radio Remains an Effective Medium
Speaking on the occasion, Faisal Kundi noted that despite the emergence of modern communication technologies, radio has retained its significance and remains an effective medium for disseminating information, education, and public awareness. He said that Muharram-ul-Haram teaches the values of patience, sacrifice, tolerance, and steadfastness in upholding truth, adding that remaining committed to principles and values in difficult circumstances is the true measure of success.
The Governor announced that a conference on the promotion and future of radio would be organized at the Governor House after Muharram-ul-Haram.
Criticism of Provincial Budget
Talking to media representatives, Kundi criticized the provincial budget, stating that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had presented a deficit budget of Rs48 billion, while the federal budget had also failed to provide significant relief to the province. He said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should receive its constitutional and financial rights and termed the absence of major federal development projects for the province an injustice.
Regional Diplomacy and Unity
Referring to regional developments, Kundi said Pakistan had played an important role in facilitating understanding between the United States and Iran, and appreciated the efforts of the prime minister and field marshal in that regard. He expressed hope that improved regional relations would create better opportunities for investment in Pakistan. The Governor urged all political forces to work together for securing the province’s rights from the federation, saying unity had previously helped achieve positive outcomes on issues such as wheat and CNG.
Later, he distributed awards and certificates among students for their outstanding performance in the competition.
