Monsoon Rains in Punjab Bring Relief from Scorching Heat

Monsoon rains continued to lash different parts of Punjab on Friday, providing much-needed relief from the scorching summer heat. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more rainfall across the province until July 13. Lahore received light to heavy rain along with strong winds overnight, and the Met Office said further showers are expected in the city later in the day.

Rainfall Forecast for Punjab

According to the forecast, intermittent rainfall is also likely in most districts of Punjab on Saturday. The rain is expected to bring temperatures down, although humid weather may continue. The PMD said Lahore's temperature is likely to remain between 26°C and 37°C on Friday.

PDMA Issues Alert for Rain Emergencies

Meanwhile, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert to district administrations, directing them to stay prepared and take precautionary measures to deal with any rain-related emergencies.

WASA Deploys Teams for Drainage

Separately, the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has deployed its operational teams across Lahore to ensure the prompt drainage of rainwater from low-lying areas as the ongoing monsoon spell continues.
