A new maternity and women’s healthcare facility, Shazia Asad GynaeCare Hospital, was inaugurated in Balambat on Wednesday, with speakers describing the initiative as a major step towards improving access to quality healthcare for women in Lower Dir.
Inauguration Ceremony
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Finance) Hamza Zahoor and Assistant Commissioner Timergara Zarak Khan as chief guests. Also present were Brig (retd) Mukhtiar Khan, Provincial Bar Council member Malik Shah Faisal Advocate, representatives of political parties and local elders.
Officials Highlight Importance
Addressing the gathering, Hamza Zahoor and Zarak Khan said serving humanity was a noble cause and stressed that expanding access to quality healthcare had become increasingly important in view of the area’s growing population. They described the establishment of the hospital as a timely initiative that would help improve maternal and women’s healthcare services in the region.
Tribute to Founders
The speakers paid tribute to Dr Asadullah Yousafzai and his wife, consultant gynaecologist Dr Shazia Asad, for establishing the facility in Malik Abad, Balambat. They noted that heavy traffic congestion in Timergara often delayed access to emergency medical care for women and said the new hospital would provide specialist maternity and gynaecological services closer to home while easing pressure on the District Headquarters Hospital, Timergara.
Public Awareness Stressed
They also underscored the importance of public awareness on maternal health, family planning and reproductive health, observing that rapid population growth continued to place increasing pressure on healthcare and other public services.
Founder's Vision
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Asadullah Yousafzai said the hospital had been established to provide modern, compassionate and dignified healthcare for women. “Our mission is to ensure that every woman receives quality medical care with dignity, respect and compassion. We are grateful for the trust and support of the local community and remain committed to serving our patients with the highest professional standards,” he said.
Services Commenced
Outpatient services have commenced at the hospital, where consultant gynaecologist Dr Shazia Asad will provide specialist diagnosis, treatment and maternity care for women across the region.
