Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Saturday reiterated the government’s firm commitment to ensuring the uninterrupted supply of sugar at affordable prices across the country. Chairing a high-level meeting to assess sugar availability and ensure price stability for consumers, Dar stressed that a zero-tolerance policy would be adopted against hoarding, speculation, and artificial price hikes.
Meeting Reviews Sugar Stocks and Production
The Ministry of National Food Security and Research, in coordination with provincial food departments, briefed the committee on current sugar stocks, production projections, and market price trends, according to a press release from the Foreign Office Spokesperson. The meeting was attended by Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, the Secretary of the Ministry of National Food Security and Research, a Member of FBR, and other senior federal and provincial officials.
Committee Expresses Satisfaction
After a thorough review of the data presented on provincial and national sugar reserves, the committee expressed satisfaction over the overall availability and supply position. The government’s proactive monitoring aims to prevent any shortages and maintain price stability, particularly in the lead-up to high-demand periods.
