Pakistan Envoy Presents Trionda Football to World Bank Chief

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, presented a “Trionda” football to World Bank President Ajay Banga during a meeting on Saturday, showcasing the country’s globally recognized sports goods industry. The presentation took place at the World Bank headquarters in Washington, D.C., with Alternate Executive Director Dr. Kazim Niaz also in attendance.

Presentation Highlights Craftsmanship

“Had the distinct pleasure of presenting a Trionda football - proudly made in Pakistan - to World Bank President Ajay Banga,” the ambassador posted on social media platform X. He added that the football “certainly highlighted Pakistan’s globally recognised craftsmanship” and represented the country’s “enduring contribution to the world’s finest sports goods.” The envoy concluded his post by paying tribute to Pakistan’s skilled workforce.

Symbolism of the Trionda Football

The football’s name, Trionda, means “three waves” in Spanish, symbolizing the three host nations of the FIFA World Cup 2026: Canada, Mexico, and the United States. According to FIFA, which is 122 years old, the Trionda football features a four-panel design for improved flight stability, an embossed surface for enhanced grip in wet conditions, and connected ball technology with a 500Hz motion sensor. This sensor provides real-time data to the assistant referee system, “enhancing match officials’ decision-making, including in relation to offside incidents.”
