Police Arrest Man for Assaulting Deaf Girl in Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi police have arrested a man for allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old deaf and dumb girl in Abu Bakar Colony near Chakra. The arrest was made by Naseerabad police on Wednesday, following a complaint lodged by the victim's father.

Case Registered Under Section 376(iii) PPC

The police registered a case under Section 376(iii) of the Pakistan Penal Code on June 30. This section prescribes punishment for the rape of a minor or a person with a mental or physical disability. The case was initiated on the complaint of the victim's father, who works as a laborer.

According to the complaint, the girl's health deteriorated a few days ago, prompting her mother to take her to a doctor. The doctor informed the mother that the girl was pregnant. When the mother asked her daughter in sign language who was responsible, the girl indicated a man living in their neighborhood.

Medical Examination and Evidence

The police have conducted the medical examination of the affected girl. SP Potohar Sardar Babar Mumtaz stated that the detained individual will be presented before the court with solid evidence via a formal charge sheet. He emphasized that assault and harassment against women and children are completely intolerable.

The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue. The police are gathering further evidence to ensure a strong case against the accused.
