Bahawalpur: Punjab Minister for Human Rights and Minority Affairs Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora has announced that 1,000 minority students across Punjab are being awarded educational scholarships, including 173 students from the Bahawalpur Division. The scholarships are being distributed to students selected on merit from the matriculation to master's level.
Scholarship Distribution Ceremony
Addressing a ceremony at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, where educational scholarship cheques were distributed among minority students, Arora said that the number of scholarships will be increased next year so that more deserving students can benefit from the program.
Government's Commitment to Minorities
Arora stated that, under the directives of Chief Minister Punjab, practical measures are being implemented to promote the development, prosperity, and welfare of minority communities. He emphasized that ensuring equal rights, improved facilities, and equal opportunities for progress for minorities remains one of the Punjab government's key priorities.
The provincial minister said that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif is taking a special interest in the welfare of minority communities and personally participates in various events. He added that the Punjab government is implementing numerous initiatives aimed at integrating minorities into the national mainstream, enhancing their economic independence, and promoting educational advancement.
Tribute to Mehdi Hassan
During the ceremony, tribute was also paid to Shahenshah-e-Ghazal Mehdi Hassan, the legendary ghazal singer, highlighting his contributions to music and culture.
