The latest performance report of the Punjab government's flagship housing programme, Apni Chhat Apna Ghar, has been made public. According to the report, a total of 164,775 loans have been approved under the project so far, while the provision of loans to 156,983 beneficiaries has been completed.
Financial Disbursement and Construction Progress
According to official figures, more than Rs208.9 billion have been distributed under the project so far. In terms of construction, 110,633 houses have been completed, while 320,412 houses are currently under construction at various stages.
Overall Target and Future Outlook
The Punjab government has constructed a total of five lakh houses under this initiative. However, the number of houses completed is approximately one-fifth of the total target. To achieve the remaining targets, the scope of construction activities will need to be further expanded.
In related news, the Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) has imposed restrictions on unlicensed and unfit commercial vehicles to ensure road safety and compliance with regulations.
