More than 750 people were evacuated and one person went missing as South Korea grappled with heavy monsoon rains on Friday, according to Yonhap News Agency. The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters reported that 758 people were temporarily evacuated across the nation due to the severe weather.

A 70-year-old man went missing on Thursday after he was reportedly swept away in a stream in the southeastern province of North Gyeongsang. Rescue operations are ongoing.

Widespread Damage and Landslides

The downpours damaged over 450 facilities, including homes and infrastructure. Five landslides were reported in North Chungcheong and the eastern province of Gangwon, though no casualties were linked to these incidents.
