In the Gulzar-e-Hijri area of Karachi, a suspected thief was killed during an exchange of fire after he and his accomplices allegedly attempted to steal goats, according to police reports. The incident occurred at Khatm-e-Nabuwwat Chowk in Scheme 33.
Details of the Shootout
Police stated that three other suspects, who arrived in a car, managed to flee the scene during the gunfire. Investigators believe the same group was involved in a prior incident where goats were allegedly stolen from the same resident. The suspects returned in the early hours of the morning, apparently to steal goats again.
When the goat owner caught one of the suspects, his accomplices allegedly opened fire. The resident responded by firing back, killing one suspect on the spot, police confirmed. The suspects' vehicle was hit by bullets, and police suspect that one of the fleeing suspects may also have been injured. An investigation is underway.
Other Incidents in Karachi
Earlier, at least two people were killed and several others injured in separate shooting incidents across Karachi. Near Pakistan Steel Mills at Port Qasim Authority, a security guard opened fire on an alleged mugger, killing the suspect and injuring his accomplice. Police confirmed an investigation into that incident is also ongoing.
In another case, a man from Khanpur was shot dead in New Karachi's Sector D-11. CCTV footage shows three men on two motorcycles firing at the victim within the limits of the New Karachi Police Station. The deceased was identified as Shakeel. Initial findings suggest personal enmity may have been the motive.
In a separate incident, two more people were injured. A 47-year-old man, Ghulam Abbas, was shot near the Habib Bank roundabout in Karachi's SITE area and was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
