WASA Suspends 16 Employees for Rain Duty Absence

FAISALABAD - Water & Sanitation Agency (WASA) Managing Director Saqib Raza has suspended 16 employees of the Operations Directorate, including two supervisors, on charges of remaining absent from their assigned duty points during rainfall. He stated that no negligence would be tolerated in providing uninterrupted drainage services during the monsoon season.

Inspection and Disciplinary Action

A WASA spokesman said the MD had directed all operations staff to ensure their presence at designated locations in view of the rain forecast and to remain fully prepared for prompt drainage operations. During the last rainfall at night, he personally visited various subdivisions to inspect field arrangements and monitor staff attendance. During inspection, several employees were found absent from their assigned duty points, prompting immediate disciplinary action.

Suspended Employees

The suspended officials include: Supervisor Haris of Madina Town Subdivision and Supervisor Ameen of Peoples Colony No.2 Subdivision, along with workers Aftab, Sarfraz, Imran, Charles, Adil, Shehzad, Nadeem, Iftikhar, Sattar, Kamran, Bashir, Shahbaz, Tariq, and Niaz.

The WASA MD ordered strict action against the absentee employees and directed the concerned Deputy Director Operations and Maintenance (O&M) to submit a detailed inquiry report within three days regarding the matter.

In a separate development, Ewing Hall is set to be restored as a heritage building, preserving its historical significance.
