Etihad Rail Passenger Services Start June 30

Etihad Rail announced on Tuesday that introductory passenger services will commence on June 30, connecting Abu Dhabi with the eastern emirate of Fujairah in just 1 hour and 45 minutes. The announcement coincided with the inauguration of the MBZ City Passenger Station by Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed, who also witnessed the unveiling of the UAE passenger rail network.

Station Openings and Facilities

Etihad Rail further revealed that train stations in Dubai and Al-Dhaid will open on September 30, followed by the Al-Dhafra station on December 30 and the Sharjah station on March 30 next year. Each station will feature cafes, restaurants, retail outlets, and several international brands. Alternatively, passengers can opt for onboard dining options during their journey.

Fares and Booking

Fares for the Abu Dhabi–Fujairah route start at Dh55 for Comfort Class and Dh120 for Premium Class. Bookings and ticket purchases are available from June 23 through multiple platforms, including the Etihad Rail mobile application and official website.

Fleet and Capacity

Etihad Rail's passenger fleet comprises 13 trains, each capable of carrying up to 400 passengers. The rail system is projected to serve an estimated 36.5 million passengers annually by 2030 across its network of 11 stations.
