In a horrific incident in Karachi's Lea Market area, a six-year-old boy named Muhammad Wali was lured by his neighbor, Hamza, who the child called "uncle." Hamza took advantage of the chaos during a funeral to take Wali to his flat, where he raped, strangled, and then sexually assaulted the child's lifeless body. The accused confessed to the crime during interrogation, leaving investigators and the community in shock.
Crime Details and Confession
According to police investigators, six-year-old Wali trusted Hamza and often asked him to buy treats from local shops. On the day of the crime, most neighbors had gathered for a funeral. Hamza seized the opportunity and took Wali to his third-floor flat. During interrogation, Hamza admitted to sexually assaulting the child. When the boy began to cry and scream, Hamza beat him and strangled him to death. He then sexually assaulted the body again. When asked about his motive, Hamza stated that he killed Wali because the child could identify him and would have exposed him.
Body Concealment and Discovery
After the murder, Hamza stuffed the body into a sack, wrapped it in a blanket, and hid it in a wardrobe. Police conducted three separate searches of Hamza's flat but failed to find the body. Hamza even joined the family's search efforts to avoid suspicion. However, CCTV footage showed that Wali had not left the area, raising suspicion among residents. Eventually, fearing discovery, Hamza threw the sack from his third-floor window, which was witnessed by some locals. The body was recovered two days after Wali went missing, on Monday evening, in the Napier area.
Autopsy and Investigation
Police Surgeon Dr. Samia Syed conducted the post-mortem and confirmed sexual assault. The autopsy revealed skull fractures and neck marks. The body was decomposed, indicating it had been concealed for some time. Samples have been taken for chemical analysis to determine the exact cause of death. The accused claimed other individuals were involved, but police stated that Hamza is making false claims to mislead the investigation. Hamza's father and other family members have been taken into protective custody due to community agitation. Police are also checking Hamza's prior criminal record for past abuse cases. A case has been registered at the Napier police station, and the investigation is ongoing.
