ISLAMABAD - Fulfilling another commitment with the International Monetary Fund, the federal government has proposed approximately 17 percent increase in funding for Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) to Rs838 billion in the FY 2026-27, up from Rs716 billion during the ongoing fiscal year.
The announcement in this regard was made by the Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb in his budget speech in the National Assembly. The budget for the Benazir Income Support Programme has been enhanced by 17 percent to Rs838 billion in the FY 2026-27.
It has been proposed that the programme to cover 12 million families, while another 9.2 million children are to be provided educational scholarships. For the ongoing fiscal year also, the federal government had increased funding for Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) by 20 percent to Rs 716 billion from the Rs598.71 billion for the fiscal year 2024-25.
