Armed Encounter Leads to Rescue and Arrests

Police in Shakargarh rescued a 22-year-old youth, Farhan, who had been kidnapped a few days earlier, and arrested three alleged kidnappers following an armed encounter on Sunday night. Two other suspects managed to escape under the cover of darkness, according to police officials.

Ransom Demand and Investigation

The kidnappers had demanded Rs3 million in ransom from Farhan's family for his release. After the family lodged a complaint, City Police registered a case and launched an investigation. Police revealed that the suspects had kept the hostage in a house in Faisal Town and communicated with the family through WhatsApp calls.

Police Operation and Exchange of Fire

On Sunday night, the kidnappers contacted Farhan's father again and instructed him to bring the ransom money to a designated location. Acting on this information, a police team led by SHO City Police Station Naveed Warraich cordoned off the suspected hideout. Police claimed that the suspects opened indiscriminate fire to evade arrest, prompting a retaliatory response from law enforcement.
