Rs2.4bn Allocated for Law Ministry Development Projects

ISLAMABAD - The federal government has allocated Rs2.403 billion to the Ministry of Law and Justice under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2026-27 for ongoing and new development schemes. According to PSDP documents, Rs1.38 billion has been earmarked for ongoing projects, while Rs1.023 billion has been allocated for new schemes.

Ongoing Projects

Among the ongoing projects, the construction of the Federal Courts and Tribunals Complex in Karachi has been allocated Rs200 million. The Legal Facilitation Centre at the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has received Rs228.306 million, while Rs261.8 million has been allocated for the Litigants Facilitation Centre at the district courts in G-10/1, Islamabad. The construction of the administrative block of the Supreme Court Branch Registry in Quetta has been allocated Rs226.7 million, while the expansion of the Supreme Court Branch Registry in Karachi will receive Rs290.5 million.

Other allocations include Rs39.2 million for the construction of a camp office for the Federal Shariat Court in Peshawar and Rs34.7 million for the Federal Courts Complex in Peshawar.

Automation and Digitalisation

The government has also earmarked Rs16.773 million for Phase-II of the Automation of Federal Courts and Tribunals project, Rs12.228 million for archiving and digitalisation of legislation, Rs3.001 million for strengthening the Planning and Monitoring Unit, and Rs50 million for strengthening the legal wings of federal ministries.

Additionally, Rs16.9 million has been allocated for the construction of offices of the Attorney General of Pakistan, Advocate General, Prosecutor General and allied offices.

New Schemes

Under new schemes, Rs703 million has been allocated for acquiring land for official residences of the IHC chief justice and judges in the Diplomatic Enclave. Another Rs300 million has been earmarked for constructing residences for judges of the Federal Constitutional Court, while Rs20 million has been allocated for a feasibility study related to the IHC judges’ housing project.
