UAE low-cost carrier flydubai is set to resume flights to Aleppo after more than 14 years, launching daily direct services to the Syrian city as part of the expansion of its Syrian network. Flights are scheduled to commence on July 20, making Aleppo flydubai's second destination in Syria alongside the capital, Damascus, according to state news agency WAM.
Expanding Syrian Network
This move reflects flydubai's commitment to enhancing air connectivity with underserved markets. The airline was the first UAE carrier to resume scheduled flights to Damascus in 2025. With increasing demand on this route, flydubai has since increased services to the Syrian capital to three daily flights.
The expansion comes as Dubai strengthens its position as a global aviation hub. Dubai International Airport served a record 95.2 million passengers and 291 destinations in 2025 while forecasting nearly 99.5 million travelers this year.
CEO Statements
“The launch of our daily flights to Aleppo marks a significant milestone in our network expansion strategy. Our core mission has always been to support Dubai’s position as a global aviation hub by providing direct flights to underserved markets,” flydubai CEO Ghaith Al-Ghaith said.
He added: “By operating daily flights to Aleppo, we are not only meeting the growing demand for direct travel but also contributing to strengthening economic, cultural, and family ties between the UAE and Syria.”
Commercial Perspective
Hamad Obaidalla, chief commercial officer at flydubai, said: “Since launching our flights to Damascus last summer, we have seen strong demand for travel between Syria and the UAE.”
He added: “The resumption of our direct flights to Aleppo builds on this momentum, providing passengers from the UAE and across our growing network with even more travel options during the peak summer season. We look forward to welcoming passengers on board soon.”
Impact on Connectivity
The resumption of direct flights provides a vital link for Syrians residing in the UAE and the Gulf region, offering a direct connection and reducing reliance on indirect routes.
The airline also recently added Benghazi in Libya and Bangkok in Thailand to its expanding network and is scheduled to begin flights to Pokhara in Nepal on Sept. 23.
