LAHORE - WAPDA Chairman Lt Gen (retd) Muhammad Saeed, accompanied by a 3-member delegation, represented Pakistan at the 17th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum (IIICF) held in the Macao Special Administrative Region.
Forum Overview
The 3-day IIICF is jointly organized by the China International Contractors Association and the Macao Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute. Established in 2010, IIICF serves as a vital platform for exchanging strategic thinking and insights, exploring opportunities, and seeking cooperation among government authorities, financial institutions, engineering companies, consultants, and equipment manufacturers.
Over 3,000 delegates from more than 70 countries, senior executives from Fortune Global 500 companies, and senior management representatives from financial institutions, consulting agencies, and engineering firms from around the world are participating in the event.
Key Address
Addressing the inaugural session, the WAPDA chairman highlighted avenues and incentives for investments in Pakistan's water and power infrastructure. He emphasized that the international community and regional stakeholders must focus on connectivity through shared infrastructure development rather than conflict-ridden geo-political contention.
Referring to Pakistan's geo-political importance and its development portfolio in water and power sectors—including the Diamer Basha Dam, Dasu Hydropower Project, and Mohmand Dam—he stated that Pakistan's demographic profile, location, and strong relationships with global players, particularly China, make it an attractive destination for infrastructure investment.
The chairman added that for regional stability, all nation states must adhere to internationally recognized bilateral treaties on shared water resources, as the region cannot afford further conflicts.
