10 Killed in Pakistan Weather Incidents, Rain Continues

At least 10 people lost their lives and several others were injured in weather-related incidents across different parts of Pakistan as strong winds and heavy rain caused accidents and damage to infrastructure.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Deaths

According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), nine people died in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours due to incidents linked to the severe weather. The victims included five men, two women and two children. The report stated that incidents were reported in Dera Ismail Khan, Upper Dir, Kohat and Orakzai. At least four houses also sustained damage as a result of the harsh weather conditions.

Punjab Incidents

In Punjab, dust storms followed by light and heavy showers affected a number of cities. In Kot Qaisrani, several passengers became stranded after a seasonal stream swelled due to rainwater, prompting an emergency rescue operation. Rescue teams successfully evacuated 10 people who were travelling on a tractor trolley and got trapped in the rising water. In Faisalabad, five people suffered injuries when the roof of a house collapsed on Kukianwala Road. Meanwhile, in Mian Channu, one person was killed and more than 10 others, including children, were injured in separate incidents caused by strong winds and storms.

Weather Warning

Weather authorities have warned that the current spell of rain and stormy conditions is expected to continue until June 22, raising fears of further disruptions, property damage and weather-related accidents.
