Rawalpindi: Joint Rejection of Federal Budget

The All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA), teachers' organisations, and the Education Pensioners Association have collectively rejected the 2026-27 federal budget, describing it as a continuation of economic exploitation of government employees and pensioners. In a joint statement, leaders highlighted that soaring inflation, rising petroleum prices, unaffordable gas and electricity bills, and continuous increases in essential commodity prices have made life extremely difficult for employees and pensioners.

Inadequate Salary Increases

The proposed salary increase of only 7 to 10 percent was deemed not only inadequate but also an insult to the affected classes. The leaders pointed out that while the ruling elite have increased their own salaries, perks, and official benefits by 600 to 900 percent over the past three years, millions of government employees, teachers, and pensioners across the country have received only nominal increases. This was described as a clear example of double standards and economic injustice.

The joint statement called for immediate revision of the budget to address the genuine needs of government workers and pensioners, urging the government to reconsider its priorities and ensure fair treatment for all citizens.
