Saudi Chemical Clearance Requests Surge 29% in April

Saudi Arabia processed 778 chemical clearance service requests in April, marking a monthly increase of 29 percent as industrial permitting activity rebounded amid efforts to support manufacturing growth and investment. This was reported by the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources.

Breakdown of April Requests

Jarrah bin Mohammed Al-Jarrah, spokesperson of the ministry, stated that the April processed requests included 703 applications for clearance of unrestricted chemical imports and 75 applications for permits to import restricted chemicals. These requests covered a total of 2,758 items, according to an official statement.

Chemical Clearance Service Details

Al-Jarrah explained that the chemical clearance service enables industrial investors to request import or export clearance for chemicals used in industrial facilities through the "Senaei" platform. This service is provided electronically to investors in the industrial sector.

Applications are submitted through the facility. The service aims to ensure that chemical clearances are granted through streamlined procedures and in a timely manner, facilitating the entry of materials through ports.

Importance of the Service

The spokesperson emphasized the importance of the service in enhancing industrial output by streamlining and developing mechanisms for obtaining clearances for chemicals used in production. It also automates these processes within the industrial sector's digital services platform, thereby strengthening digital services that support industrial investors.

Previous Months Comparison

In March, the ministry processed 603 chemical clearance service requests, which included 572 applications for clearance of unrestricted chemical imports and 31 applications for permits to import restricted chemicals. The approved requests covered a total of 1,431 items at that time.

A month earlier, in February, the ministry processed 697 chemical clearance requests, including 668 applications for clearance of unrestricted chemical imports and 29 applications for permits to import restricted chemicals. These requests covered a total of 1,758 items.

Senaei Platform Launch

In 2023, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar bin Ibrahim Alkhorayef launched the new version of the "Senaei" platform, which included more than 30 services and provided digital access for industrial investors.
