The University of Health Sciences (UHS) has given its approval for Punjab's first-ever PhD programme in nursing, marking a significant milestone for advanced nursing education in the province. The Specialty Advisory Committee, chaired by UHS Vice Chancellor Dr Ahsan Waheed Rathore, granted the approval during a recent meeting.
Admissions and Eligibility Criteria
The university is expected to begin advertising admissions for the programme in the first week of July. A spokesperson confirmed that the inaugural batch will accommodate 20 seats. To qualify for admission, candidates must secure at least 75 percent marks in the UHS entrance test.
Programme Objectives and Career Pathways
Officials stated that the programme has been designed to prepare nursing professionals for careers in teaching, research, healthcare management, and policy development. This initiative aims to address the growing demand for highly qualified nursing faculty and leaders in the healthcare sector.
The introduction of this PhD programme is expected to enhance the quality of nursing education and research in Punjab, ultimately contributing to improved patient care and health outcomes across the province.
