Government Mandate Leaves Perry with No Choice
Perry explained that the decision was beyond her control. She added that she was backstage preparing for the show when the news was delivered, and authorities gave her no alternative.
'I was backstage getting ready for my show when this news was delivered, and they gave me no choice,' Perry shared. She emphasized her frustration, stating, 'I am just as unhappy as you are... (the situation) is beyond my control.'
Apology to Disappointed Fans
Perry extended her apologies to fans who had gathered for the event, acknowledging the inconvenience caused by the cancellation. 'I am sorry I can't change the weather, and even sorrier that all of us can't be together tonight,' she wrote. The festival organizers also confirmed the cancellation, prioritizing attendee safety as storms were forecasted for the region.
The Werchter Boutique festival, held in the town of Werchter near Brussels, typically draws thousands of music fans. The severe weather warning prompted authorities to act preemptively to avoid potential hazards. Perry's set was one of the most anticipated performances of the event.

Perry has been active on the festival circuit this summer, with appearances across Europe. The cancellation marks a rare disruption to her schedule. She has not yet announced a rescheduled date for the Belgium show. Fans have expressed understanding on social media, with many noting that safety must come first.
