The Nordkurier newspaper stated that the fire is believed to have started in the roof trusses of the radiology building. Dramatic footage showed patients being wheeled out in beds and wheelchairs, many wearing only hospital gowns, and gathered on the sidewalk and lawn in front of the burning building.
