PDMA Punjab Issues Rain, Wind and Hailstorm Alert

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued a weather alert, warning of rain, strong winds and hailstorms across most districts of the province from June 2 to June 5.

Affected Districts

According to the PDMA, rainfall is expected in several districts, including Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Faisalabad, Jhang, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sargodha, Mianwali, Sheikhupura, Khushab and Mandi Bahauddin, as well as Lahore and surrounding areas.

Preparedness Measures

Director General PDMA Umar Javed stated that all commissioners, deputy commissioners and relevant agencies have been directed to remain on alert and ensure preparedness for any weather-related emergencies. He advised citizens to stay indoors during lightning and thunderstorms and avoid open fields, tall trees and other unsafe locations.

Advice for Farmers and Tourists

Farmers have been urged to take precautionary measures to protect crops, while tourists travelling to northern and mountainous regions have been advised to exercise caution. Citizens can contact the PDMA emergency helpline, 1129, in case of any emergency.

In a separate development, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 128 properties in a crackdown on illegal commercial activities.
