Excessive Social Media Use Harming Students' Health and Studies
Social Media Overuse Damaging Students' Health and Academics

I am writing to draw attention to a serious issue that is rapidly affecting our younger generation: the excessive use of social media among students. Nowadays, students are becoming overly involved in social media platforms, spending a large amount of time scrolling through apps instead of focusing on their studies. As a result, their academic performance is declining, and their ability to concentrate on learning is weakening.

Health Concerns from Sedentary Lifestyle

Another concerning aspect is the lack of physical activity. Children who once enjoyed outdoor games are now sitting in one place for hours, using their mobile phones. This inactive lifestyle is negatively affecting their health. Problems such as obesity, poor posture, and reduced physical fitness are becoming increasingly common among students.

Eye Strain and Vision Problems

Moreover, excessive screen time is damaging their eyesight. Continuous use of mobile phones causes eye strain, headaches, and long-term vision problems. This is a serious health concern that cannot be ignored.

Role of Parents and Schools

It is the responsibility of parents, teachers, and society to guide students towards the balanced use of technology. Schools should create awareness about the harmful effects of excessive social media use and encourage students to participate in physical activities. I hope you will highlight this issue through your respected newspaper so that proper steps can be taken to protect the future of our youth.
