The Punjab Health Department has announced the recruitment of over 1,500 temporary positions under the Anti-Dengue Program in Rawalpindi district. The initiative aims to bolster efforts to control the spread of dengue fever during the upcoming season.

Immediate Vacancies and Qualifications

According to the official announcement, the immediate hirings include two vacancies for an entomologist. Additionally, 1,500 positions are open for sanitary patrols, open to both men and women. The required educational qualification for these roles is matriculation or its equivalent. Candidates must also possess the ability to operate an Android smartphone, which is essential for data collection and reporting.

“The recruitments are being made on a purely temporary, daily-wage basis specifically for the dengue season,” said a health official. Eligible male and female candidates can appear for interviews according to their respective tehsil or union council quotas. Relaxation in the upper age limit will be provided as per government policy, the official added.

Background and Context

The Anti-Dengue Program is a seasonal initiative by the Punjab government to reduce the incidence of dengue fever, which typically spikes during the monsoon and post-monsoon periods. The recruitment of sanitary patrols is a key component of the program, as these workers are responsible for identifying and eliminating mosquito breeding sites, conducting awareness campaigns, and assisting in surveillance activities.

In a separate unrelated incident, a teenage girl was shot dead over refusal to marry, and police have launched a manhunt for the suspect. However, this event is not connected to the health department recruitment.
