Senate Committee on Finance and Revenue Chairman Senator Saleem Mandviwalla handed over a substantial donation of medical and surgical supplies, patient beds, and other essential equipment to the management of Jinnah Hospital Karachi in collaboration with PEI on Monday.

Challenges in Education and Health Sectors

Addressing the ceremony, Senator Mandviwalla said the education and health sectors continue to face serious challenges. He mentioned that he had adopted 50 schools for transformation and improved functionality, adding that the initiative is currently underway and nearing completion.

Recent Visit to Lyari Hospital

Mandviwalla further shared that he had recently visited Lyari Hospital, where services were functioning effectively and patients expressed satisfaction with the facilities being provided. He emphasized that the public needs support and assistance, and it is the responsibility of authorities to ensure the provision of essential services.

Poverty Alleviation Effort

He termed the initiative a poverty alleviation effort and said it had proven to be a significant step toward strengthening healthcare delivery, adding that similar efforts would also be extended to Balochistan. Senator Mandviwalla noted that donations should align with institutional needs and be utilized effectively for the greater public good.

Public Service Over Politics

He stressed that the initiative reflects public service rather than political interests. He further stated that collective efforts are necessary for national progress, urging people to contribute toward improvement instead of solely criticizing institutions. He added that constructive criticism is always welcomed, but unfair criticism and discrimination should be discouraged.

Transparency and Accountability

Responding to a query, the chairman said a complete list of donated equipment had been provided and its utilization would be monitored to ensure transparency and accountability. He added that hospitals remain responsible for administrative operations and compliance.
