KARACHI: In a decisive move to protect public health, Sindh Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho has launched a major offensive against unqualified medical practitioners operating illegally across the province.
Alarming HIV Statistics Revealed
During a high-level briefing at the Sindh Health Department, shocking revelations emerged about the growing HIV crisis. Health officials confirmed that the province has recorded 3,995 confirmed HIV-positive cases, highlighting the urgent need for intervention in healthcare practices.
Comprehensive Crackdown Strategy
Dr. Pechuho has directed health authorities to implement strict measures against quackery, emphasizing that "illegal medical practices will not be tolerated". The comprehensive strategy includes:
- Immediate closure of unauthorized medical facilities
- Legal action against individuals practicing medicine without qualifications
- Enhanced monitoring and surveillance systems
- Public awareness campaigns about legitimate healthcare providers
Protecting Vulnerable Communities
The Health Minister stressed that unqualified practitioners pose a significant threat to public health, particularly in rural and underserved areas. "These quacks are not only jeopardizing individual health but contributing to the spread of serious diseases like HIV through unsafe practices," Dr. Pechuho stated.
