Rescue 1122 Mohmand Handled 3,957 Emergencies in 2025

The District Emergency Service Rescue 1122 in Mohmand demonstrated its critical role in 2025, responding to a massive volume of emergencies across the region. According to its annual performance report released on Saturday, the service attended to nearly four thousand incidents, providing vital medical and rescue aid to thousands of citizens.

A Year of Diverse Emergencies and Challenges

Under the supervision of District Emergency Officer Engineer Khaliq Dad, the teams were deployed for a wide array of crises. The data reveals that Rescue 1122 handled 3,957 emergencies throughout the year. These included 3,311 medical emergencies, 337 road traffic accidents, 73 fire incidents, and 50 cases involving gunshot injuries and violent clashes. Furthermore, personnel dealt with three building collapses, nine gas cylinder explosions, and 145 recovery operations.

A particularly concerning trend noted in the report was the significant number of water-related tragedies. 29 drowning cases were reported in water bodies including the Swat and Kabul rivers, as well as local dams and reservoirs. Trained diver teams performed search and recovery missions using advanced techniques like scuba diving and line searches, retrieving bodies for the grieving families after legal procedures were completed.

Beyond Rescue: Referrals, Training, and Operational Hurdles

The service's work extended beyond immediate crisis response. Its health referral ambulance service was instrumental in transferring 1,013 patients between healthcare facilities. Of these, 174 were moved within Mohmand district, while 839 required specialized treatment and were shifted to major hospitals outside the district. Demonstrating a broad humanitarian mandate, Rescue 1122 Mohmand also conducted several animal rescue missions during the year.

In line with directives from the Director General of Rescue 1122 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Mohmand Training Wing actively worked to build community resilience. They conducted more than 100 training and public awareness programs in 2025. Thousands of people from educational institutions, government offices, and private organizations received hands-on instruction in first aid, fire safety, and water-rescue preparedness.

However, the department faced a major operational challenge. The control room received a staggering 71,358 calls, but a large portion were non-actionable. Officials reported that 25,305 were dropped calls and 42,096 were fake or non-emergency calls, which severely strains resources and response efficiency.
