Abortion Attempt Leads to Woman's Death in Jaranwala

A tragic incident has unfolded in Jaranwala, where a woman succumbed to complications following an attempted abortion. The deceased, identified as Kanza Fatima, was taken to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Faisalabad but could not survive the medical ordeal.

FIR Lodged by Victim's Father

According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed by Muhammad Hussain, the victim's father and a resident of Chak 229-RB, the events leading to her death began when Kanza fell ill while living with her husband, Muhammad Farooq, in the same locality. Farooq, along with two women—Fatima Bibi and Hanifa, the wife of Abdul Qayyum—accompanied Kanza to a doctor in Makoana. During the consultation, the doctor confirmed that Kanza was pregnant.

Allegations of Forced Abortion

The FIR alleges that Farooq and Fatima Bibi subsequently took Kanza to Jaranwala, where they attempted to terminate her pregnancy through the services of a midwife named Hanifa Bibi. The procedure went wrong, leading to severe complications that ultimately resulted in Kanza's death at the hospital.
