Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif held separate meetings with Members of the Provincial Assembly (MPAs) Mian Shahid Hussain Khan and Muhammad Aoun Jahangir on Tuesday. The discussions focused on public issues, law and order, constituency matters, and the progress of development projects across the province.

Key Issues Discussed

According to an official handout, the participants deliberated on issues related to their respective constituencies and the overall political situation in Punjab. The legislators expressed grief over the recent Kahna tragedy, where a roof collapse claimed the lives of several children, and offered prayers for the departed souls.

Appreciation for Government Initiatives

The MPAs congratulated the chief minister on the presentation of Punjab's third surplus budget. They also appreciated the launch of the “Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar” programme and the expansion of electric bus services to tehsil-level cities.

Directions for Eid Milad-un-Nabi Preparations

During the meeting, the chief minister directed the legislators to ensure comprehensive preparations in their respective districts for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH). She thanked the MPAs for their confidence in her leadership and reiterated her government’s commitment to public welfare. “I have always learnt the lesson of public service from Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif,” she said.

Healthcare and Housing Initiatives

Maryam Nawaz highlighted that the upgradation of Rural Health Centres was improving access to quality healthcare. She also noted that nearly 125,000 houses under the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” programme were at various stages of construction across Punjab.

Infrastructure and Public Welfare

According to the official handout, the legislators appreciated the provincial government’s public welfare initiatives, improvements in road infrastructure, and urban beautification projects. They also commended the security, sanitation, and public facilitation arrangements made during Muharram, including the establishment of government-sponsored sabeels.

Women and Children Empowerment

The MPAs further praised the chief minister’s initiatives aimed at the welfare and empowerment of women and children, the handout added.
