IHC Seeks Govt Response on Indus Water Commissioner Vacancy

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday issued notices to the federal government, seeking a response regarding the non-appointment of the Indus Water Commissioner. The court described the matter as a serious issue.

Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir presided over the hearing of a petition filed by Judicial Activism. Advocate Azhar Siddiq, representing the petitioner, submitted before the court that the position of Indus Water Commissioner has been vacant since September 1, 2025. The court observed, "This is a serious issue."

Adjournment

The IHC adjourned further hearing of the case until June 9, giving time for the government to file its response.
