In a ceremony held at the Speaker’s Office in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Secretariat on Tuesday, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the KP Assembly and the international organization Edu Tourism for Unity. Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Babar Saleem Swati, presided over the event.
Signatories and Attendees
The MoU was signed on behalf of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly by Syed Wiqar Shah, Secretary of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, while Muhammad Daniyal Akram, Overseas Executive Director of Edu Tourism for Unity, signed for the organization. Members of the Provincial Assembly Ahmad Kundi and Muneer Laghmani were also present at the occasion.
Speaker’s Remarks on Capacity Building
Speaking at the ceremony, Speaker Babar Saleem Swati emphasized that strengthening the professional capacity of elected representatives and the Assembly Secretariat staff is fundamental to building a strong, effective, and modern parliamentary institution. He added that collaboration with international organizations, leadership development programmes, and structured study tours would provide members of the Assembly and parliamentary staff with valuable exposure to global best practices, thereby enhancing legislation, public representation, and institutional performance.
Scope of the MoU
Under the MoU, both organizations will collaborate on parliamentary capacity building, leadership development, national and international study tours, educational exchanges, and initiatives aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The agreement further stipulates that all activities, nominations, and programmes undertaken under the MoU will be subject to the approval and oversight of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Secretariat, ensuring transparency, institutional accountability, confidentiality, and effective coordination between the two parties.
