Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi called on Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman at Mansoora on Tuesday, where the two leaders held detailed discussions on the country’s political, economic and security situation, as well as rapidly evolving regional developments.

Focus on Iran-US Understanding

The meeting focused in particular on the recent Iran-US understanding and its potential implications for regional peace and stability. Both leaders described the development as a positive step towards reducing tensions and promoting lasting peace in the region.

Appreciating Pakistan’s role in facilitating the understanding, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman said Islamabad’s efforts for regional peace were commendable and would be remembered as an important contribution to stability in the region. He said the breakthrough had opened new avenues for peace and cooperation and could help ease longstanding tensions.

Stranded Pakistanis in Somalia

The Jamaat-e-Islami chief also raised the issue of Pakistani citizens stranded in Somalia and urged the government to take effective diplomatic measures to ensure their immediate and safe evacuation.

Economic Challenges Discussed

The two leaders also exchanged views on the country’s economic challenges and the hardships being faced by the public. Hafiz Naeem emphasized the need for concrete steps to provide relief to citizens, curb inflation and strengthen the national economy.

Pakistan’s Diplomatic Role

During the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi briefed the JI emir on developments related to the Iran-US negotiations and Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in support of regional peace. He said the prime minister and the field marshal had played a significant role in promoting dialogue and reducing tensions.

“Pakistan deserves credit for helping ease tensions and advancing peace efforts in the region,” the interior minister said, adding that the country would continue to support initiatives aimed at regional stability and cooperation.
