A distinguished diplomat, Tirmizi joined the Foreign Service of Pakistan in 1995. His extensive career includes various key positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and postings in Turkmenistan, the United States, the United Nations, and the United Arab Emirates. He previously served as Pakistan's Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic from 2018 to 2019 and to the United Arab Emirates from 2022 to 2025.

Ambassador Tirmizi's diplomatic excellence has been recognized internationally. In a notable honor, he was awarded the First-Class Order of Zayed II by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. He is also a recipient of the SCO-RATS Award for his contributions within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
