Pakistan, Germany Sign €40.5M Technical Cooperation Deal

The government of Pakistan and the government of Germany have formalized a Technical Cooperation Agreement valued at €40.5 million to implement nine technical development projects. This agreement is designed to enhance bilateral development cooperation in critical areas such as climate resilience, social protection, and renewable energy.

Agreement Details

Under the terms of the agreement, the German Development Bank, KfW, will extend both financial and technical assistance to launch nine new development initiatives across Pakistan. The signing ceremony was attended by Secretary Economic Affairs Muhammad Humair Karim Kidwai and German Ambassador to Pakistan Ina Lepel, along with senior officials from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and representatives of the German Embassy.

Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Economic Affairs Muhammad Humair Karim Kidwai expressed gratitude for the continued support from the German government and KfW towards Pakistan's socio-economic development. He highlighted that Pakistan and Germany have maintained a strong and enduring development partnership since 1961, built on mutual trust and cooperation. Kidwai noted that Germany remains one of Pakistan's key development partners, with the current active bilateral portfolio reaching approximately €550 million.

German Ambassador Ina Lepel emphasized that Germany highly values its longstanding partnership with Pakistan and remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote sustainable and inclusive development. The ambassador expressed confidence that the projects launched under the agreement would deliver meaningful benefits to communities across Pakistan and further deepen the strong relations between the two countries.
