Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met with Ms. Rebeca Grynspan, a candidate for the position of United Nations Secretary-General, on Friday. During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan's steadfast dedication to advancing the principles and objectives enshrined in the UN Charter, as well as its respect for international law and treaties.
Peaceful Resolution of Disputes
DPM Dar underscored the necessity of resolving disputes through peaceful means, emphasizing the faithful implementation of UN Security Council resolutions as a foundation for sustainable global peace. He specifically highlighted the Jammu and Kashmir dispute and the Palestine issue as critical matters requiring urgent attention in this context.
Role of the UN in Global Development
Furthermore, the Deputy Prime Minister stressed the vital importance of the United Nations system in achieving the global development agenda. He called for strengthened multilateral cooperation to address contemporary challenges and ensure progress for all nations.
The meeting also touched upon Pakistan's ongoing efforts in the energy sector, as the country recently floated another tender for procuring a liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo from the spot market.
