Turkish Commander Meets Pakistan Army Leadership

RAWALPINDI: General Metin Tokel, Commander of Turkish Land Forces, called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Thursday at the General Headquarters (GHQ).

Guard of Honour

Upon his arrival at GHQ, the visiting dignitary was presented with a smartly turned out Guard of Honour by a contingent of the Pakistan Army, according to a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Discussions on Defence Cooperation

During the meeting, both leaders discussed matters of mutual professional interest, regional security dynamics, and avenues for enhanced bilateral defence cooperation. Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir highlighted the deep-rooted historical, cultural, and strategic ties between Pakistan and Turkiye. He also appreciated the strong defence partnership between the armed forces of both nations.

Visit to Naval and Air Headquarters

The visiting dignitary also visited Naval Headquarters in Islamabad, where he called on Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf. Additionally, General Metin Tokel met Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of Air Staff, at Air Headquarters (AHQ) in Islamabad. The meeting focused on further strengthening bilateral military cooperation between the two countries.
