Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, has concluded a short yet highly productive official visit to Iran. During the visit, he held high-level meetings that took place in a positive and constructive atmosphere and contributed to significant progress in the mediation process.

Mediation Efforts Progress

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the visit was part of ongoing mediation efforts aimed at reducing tensions and promoting constructive engagement in the region following the April 8, 2026 Iran-U.S. ceasefire. The military spokesperson stated that during the visit, Field Marshal Asim Munir met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni.

Detailed Discussions

The meetings included detailed discussions on promoting peace and stability in the region and accelerating the ongoing consultative process to reach a final agreement. According to ISPR, all meetings were held in a positive and constructive environment, which played an important role in effectively advancing the mediation process.

As a result of extensive negotiations held over the past 24 hours, encouraging progress has been achieved toward a final understanding. The spokesperson further stated that the Iranian leadership appreciated Pakistan’s sincere and constructive role in promoting peaceful solutions and dialogue for resolving regional issues.

ISPR also noted that upon his arrival in Iran, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir was warmly received by Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni along with senior civil and military officials. This visit marks a significant step in strengthening bilateral ties and fostering regional stability.
