On the special directives of IESCO Chief Executive Officer, Engineer Chaudhry Khalid Mahmood, the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has further intensified its ongoing crackdown against electricity theft across its operational region. Dedicated enforcement teams are conducting daily inspections and taking strict legal action against individuals involved in power theft and other illegal electricity usage practices.
Comprehensive Crackdown Since 2019
According to an IESCO spokesperson, a comprehensive crackdown against power theft was initiated in 2019. So far, 3,288 power pilferers have been arrested, 11.53 million units have been charged, and a fine of Rs. 593.60 million has been imposed. The recovery percentage of this fine remains at 94%, which is undoubtedly an excellent performance.
Zero-Tolerance Policy
Speaking on the occasion, Engineer Chaudhry Khalid Mahmood reaffirmed IESCO's commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against electricity theft. He stated that no individual or organization involved in power theft would be spared, and indiscriminate action would continue in accordance with the law.
The CEO also appealed to the public to become part of this national campaign and report any power theft activity on the helpline number 118 for immediate action.
