Punjab Safe Cities Launches QR Panic Button System

The Punjab Safe Cities Authority has launched the "CM Punjab QR Panic Button System" to enhance public safety across the province. Under this initiative, QR panic buttons will be installed in buses, wagons, rickshaws, taxis, and other public transport vehicles throughout Punjab.

How the System Works

According to Safe Cities officials, citizens can obtain free QR panic buttons delivered to their homes through the Public Safety App and the Safe City website. By scanning the QR code at the start of a journey, passengers can access verified information about the vehicle, its owner, and the driver.

Advanced Features for Emergency Response

The new system incorporates 12 modern features, including call, video call, live chat, location sharing, vehicle verification, and immediate police response. In an emergency, passengers can contact the Safe City Control Room immediately via call, video call, or live chat on 15 through the QR Panic Button. The control room simultaneously receives the passenger's live location and vehicle data.

Officials emphasized that timely action and response will be ensured through the modern command and control system of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority. Drivers can also access immediate help through the same system in any emergency.

Government and Police Endorsement

Punjab Inspector General of Police Abdul Karim stated that the QR Panic Button will serve as an effective means of immediate communication between the police and citizens, playing a vital role in protecting millions of daily travelers, including women, senior citizens, and students. He noted that a new standard of public safety is being established in Punjab through the integration of technology and smart policing.

Safe City Managing Director Ahsan Younis said that public transport across Punjab is being transformed into a digital safety network to ensure timely help and immediate response for every citizen.
