The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has announced its intention to field candidates in all union councils across Lahore during the upcoming local government elections. This decision signals an aggressive push to bolster the party's presence in the provincial capital. The announcement was made by Lahore PPP President Faisal Mir during a press conference held at Gulzar House.
Rally at Minar-e-Pakistan
Faisal Mir also unveiled plans for a major public gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan on July 25 to commemorate the birthday of President Asif Ali Zardari. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is expected to address the rally, which aims to showcase the party's strength and unity.
Organizational Expansion
Mir stated that the party is expanding and strengthening its organisational structure in Lahore. He emphasized the PPP's commitment to addressing public issues and criticized the ruling party's development claims, arguing that several areas of the city still lack basic civic facilities.
Party Confidence
Speaking on the occasion, Ammar Ahmad Khan expressed confidence that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari would one day become prime minister. Ayesha Shaukat added that the party is determined to further consolidate its political base in Punjab and Lahore.
The press conference was attended by party office-bearers from various towns and zones, as well as representatives of the business, youth, and women's wings.
