Iranian President Declares Preliminary US Agreement Favorable to Iran
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has stated that under the preliminary agreement reached to end tensions with the United States, Iran's frozen funds worth $6 billion held in Qatar will be returned. According to foreign media reports, President Pezeshkian said that all provisions of the memorandum of understanding are in Iran's favor and that the achievements of the negotiations will soon become evident.
Trump Acknowledges Iran's Rights, Says President
He further stated that US President Donald Trump, who recently spoke about restricting Iran from certain activities, has now acknowledged those same matters as legitimate rights of the Iranian nation. The Iranian president said that the results of the negotiations would soon be presented to the public and would demonstrate that Iran has successfully safeguarded its national interests.
$6 Billion in Frozen Assets to Be Released
Pezeshkian confirmed that the agreement includes the release of Iran's $6 billion in frozen assets currently held in Qatar. He described the funds as Iran's rightful property and said their return would represent a significant boost for the country's economy. He also criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying that he would be the most dissatisfied party with the negotiations taking place in Switzerland.
US Demand on Nuclear Weapons Aligns with Iran's Stance
According to the Iranian president, the United States' only demand is that Iran does not possess nuclear weapons. He said this aligns with the long-standing position of Iran's leadership, which has repeatedly stated that the country does not seek nuclear bombs. Pezeshkian added that the United States requested this commitment to be put in writing and formally signed, and Iran has done so.
Religious Decree Against Nuclear Weapons
Referring to a religious decree by Iran's leadership, he reiterated that Iran's religious authorities have consistently maintained that the development and use of nuclear weapons are contrary to Islamic teachings.
