Jordan King, Kuwaiti FM Discuss Regional De-escalation

King Abdullah of Jordan and Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah convened at Al-Husseiniya Palace in Amman on Sunday to deliberate on pressing regional developments. The discussions centered on measures to bolster joint Arab action aimed at sustaining de-escalation in the region, which remains fraught with tension between Iran on one side and the United States and Israel on the other, according to the Petra news agency.

Key Points from the Meeting

King Abdullah underscored that any regional de-escalation agreement must guarantee the security of Arab states. He emphasized that the security of Gulf countries is integral to both regional and global stability. The meeting occurred against the backdrop of heightened hostilities, including Iran's launch of dozens of ballistic missiles and drones against neighboring countries, such as Jordan and Kuwait, following its conflict with the US and Israel that began on February 28.

Jordan's Condemnation and Stance

Jordan has condemned drone attacks launched by Iranian proxies in Iraq against two locations at Kuwait's northern land border posts on Saturday. The king also stressed the need to support Lebanon's security and stability while preventing Israeli attempts to alter the situation in Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza, as reported by Petra.
